My journey through art

Ever since I was a kid, I have loved drawing. I was not good at it, but I was encouraged by everyone. That encouragement kept me going.

A doodle by my aunt |
One of my aunts was a great source of inspiration in my childhood.
She drew me little doodles and I always wanted to replicate those.
This was just a doodle for my aunt but for me it was everything.
At the time, I was in love with dinosaurs, like any 10 y/o kid.
I kept on doodling and it was never anything serious. I never went to an art school or took any extra art classes. But around 2017 I got proper internet access. And everything changed. Suddenly, I had youtube and infinite knowledge at my disposal. Channels like Jazza, Marc Brunet, Proko were my masters.

How to draw the Human Figure |
My drawing skills rapidly improved as I practiced more and more. Hours after hours watching youtube videos to learn the human anatomy, perspective, color theory, and all the other fundamentals. I made an incredible group of artist friends who helped me to learn so many things. They would always correct my mistakes. I have not yet reached my peak, there is so much to learn. But I'm filled with joy when I look back and see the progress I have made over the years.

Nowadays nothing I draw is copied from someone else, it's all original. I take pride in that. But there are still so many things left to learn, and so many ways to grow. My journey is not over yet.

People often ask me how did I learn to draw? How to draw a human? All the knowledge you could possibly need is at your fingertips. Just look it up on youtube. It's free. And practice and practice. You have to stay persistent.

This is a skill and practice is all you can do to refine it. That's what I did and still do. I try to sketch every day before going to bed. It doesn't have to look pretty. It doesn't even have to resemble a human being. Just practicing daily with a simple pencil and paper takes you a long way.
You DO NOT need a fancy pen display or an iPad pro or prisma colors. All you need is a pencil (preferably an eraser too) and a piece of paper. That is where I started and that is where everyone started. Everyone, from Leonardo Da Vinci to Kim Jung Gi to our beloved Stan Lee. This is a skill and tools can only get you so far if you don't know how to use them properly.
